Notice to all Basketball Players Officials & Spectators

The Byron Bay Basketball Association is growing quickly.
All members of BBBA are responsible under the Constitution for supporting its development including Codes of Conduct and policies and procedures. The Association is actively engaged in developing the skills of officials and players. The Board has revised and developed policies, procedures, and codes of conduct in consultation with committee members (see website).

The Association only exists because of the effort put in by dedicated volunteers. All members and volunteers working in any capacity need to be thanked supported and treated with respect.  There is no place for abuse or poor sportsmanship toward players, referees, spectators or games officials or anyone.  We are the Association –there is no place for them and us.

It is the Association’s aim to provide a safe, enjoyable and integrated team sport (see Vision and Mission Statement on website). Recently there has been a degree of friction between players, officials and spectators. The Board acknowledges that feelings run high at times however the expectation remains that everyone acts responsibly and with respect to others, to assist in limiting accidents and injuries and to support the growth and improvement of the Association. Disrespectful behaviour displayed by players, spectators or officials is a breach of Byron Bay Basketball Association’s codes of conduct (www.byronbasketball.com). Please note: there are protocols for complaints – a Grievance Committee, Grievance Policy and Procedure, and mediation options – lyn.mccormick@gmail.com
